Baxley’s First Stand

Posted by ALmod on April 29, 2006

I’ve not been the first person to point out that Lucy Baxley needs to take a stand on some issues in order to be taken seriously as a candidate. So when I saw this article in the Birmingham News this morning, I felt like it was only fair to point it out.

I like Baxley. I think she’d make a decent candidate for the Democrats, but she’ll never come close to winning (even against a certain former governor) unless she speaks up more. Perhaps this is just the first of many such statements.

Jen, Lucy may be too honest to be a good candidate, at least in the sense of garnering votes, because gullible and poorly or totally uninformed voters seem to just vote for whomever promises the most of what they think they would like to have. Lucy, on the other hand, says she isn’t going to promise things she can’t deliver, and the way our state government operates a Governor can only deliver what the legislature delivers to the Governor to sign. More often than not, proposals made to the legislature by the Governor are either neglected or drastically changed. Because all she can promise is to do her best to work for the people, it makes her appear to not have a firm stance on issues. She outlines her campaign issues @ http://www.lucybaxley.com/issues.html.
