The Stantis Cartoon You Didn’t Get to See

Posted by ALmod on October 29, 2009

Thank you to Matt Murphy for posting it, and of course to Scott Stantis for drawing it.

Prickly City vs. Birthers

Posted by ALmod on August 28, 2009

I absolutely love Scott Stantis’s Prickly City.  I read it every day.  This week, he’s been touching on the birther nonsense, and today made me laugh out loud.

First Blackledge. Now Stantis.

Posted by ALmod on August 19, 2009

Just as one of our best reporters for The Birmingham News has gone to the greener pastures of the Associated Press, we are now losing a very talented cartoonist to Chicago Tribune.  Just can’t keep ’em in Bama, but I can’t blame them.  Both Blackledge and Stantis were always the kind of quality that deserved to be in bigger newsrooms.  Stantis will be missed, and I hope he keeps up a blog.  I’d like to follow him even after his move.

This is the new taxation without representation.

I suppose it would be funnier if my husband didn’t work in Jefferson County and pay the occupational taxes even though he doesn’t live in Jefferson County and can’t vote on any of the people taxing him.  The part that is particularly infuriating is the fact that not only do they want to reinstate the tax, but they also want to double it.  And so, we who don’t live in Jefferson County will apparently be paying for their sewer fiasco.
